  • Your geyser burst and flooded your home; your dishwasher’s water supply pipe popped off and gushed water all over your kitchen; or nature did its worst and flood water rushed through your San Diego home. You need to act fast! Yes, cleaning services really can be an emergency call, and water damage restoration is one of the situations where you need immediate help.

Once you’ve called us, our water damage restoration team will rush to help you. Here’s what they’ll do.

    Assess the Water-Damage Restoration Task

As we’ve pointed out the faster you call us, the less the damage will be. But it could have happened while you were away from home, and that makes the task more difficult. The source of the water will also show us what we need to do. For example, flood water will bring mud, salt, and other debris along with it.

Our San Diego water damage restoration team’s supervisor will explain what needs to be done, why we need to take the steps we recommend, and how long they will take to complete. And if you want to claim from insurance, we will be happy to communicate with your insurance company too.

    Water Removal and Drying

The first step is to remove all the water we can as quickly as possible. The longer it stands, the greater the damage it will do. We use powerful equipment that sucks up the excess water, leaving even the most absorbent surfaces damp rather than sopping wet. But our task is not yet complete.

We need to get things properly dry before molds and fungi can begin to grow. In a home that flooded while its owner was away, we even found mushrooms growing under the furniture. You don’t want that to happen in your home!

Since we’ve already sucked up every drop of moisture we can with our equipment, we now rely on moving air around and dehumidifying to promote rapid drying. Moving, dry air helps the evaporation process, and as the air soaks up moisture, we keep drying it with dehumidifiers.

    Cleaning Up

Once everything is dry, we can start looking at the final cleaning processes that will be needed to restore your home. This is particularly necessary when the culprit is flood water. Although much of the dirt and debris will have gone with the water we removed, there will still be stubborn residues that could contain contaminants you really don’t want in your living space.

You’ll notice that there’s an odor in the air before we begin, but afterwards, all the unpleasant smells are well and truly gone. We might need to use chemicals to rid your home of all mold or fungi – and if it’s at all possible to save your precious carpets and furniture, we will do so.

If you’ve just noticed a water-related disaster in your San Diego home, remember that the sooner you act, the better. Call us right away.
